Driving Times
40 min North of Ingonish, just before the turn to Dingwall
30 min East of Pleasant Bay, just past Cape North and Dingwall
70min Past (North East) of Cheticamp, just past Dingwall
2 hours North of Baddeck
6 hours North of Halifax
Driving Directions:
Traveling from Halifax and Mainland Nova Scotia
Head north from Halifax on Highway 102 towards Truro and merge right at exit 15E Trans Canada Highway 104. You will travel approximately 170km, crossing over the Canso Causeway and the entrance to Cape Breton Island. Merge onto Highway 105.
You now have 3 options for reaching the top of the island. Exit will take you through Cheticamp on the Cabot Trail. Continuing to Exit 11-St.Ann's and Exit 12-Englishtown will take you through Ingonish on the Cabot Trail. The Englishtown exit has the Englishtown ferry which can save you 30 minutes. The ferry crossing fee is $5. If the ferry is not in service, lights will be flashing at Exit 11-St.Ann's.
If you are coming to us via Cheticamp, go past the turnoff to Dingwall road and look for Shore Road on the left. We are just minutes from the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, just a quick turn off the Cabot Trail on the Shore Road in South Harbour.
Traveling from Sydney
Merge onto Highway 105 Trans Canada highway. You now have 2 options for reaching the top of the island. Exit 12-Englishtown and Exit 11-St.Ann's will both take you through Ingonish on the Cabot Trail. The Englishtown exit has the Englishtown ferry which can save you 30 minutes. The ferry crossing is $5. If the ferry is not in service, lights will be flashing at this exit. You will then proceed to Exit 11-St.Ann's.
We are minutes from the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, just a quick turn off the Cabot Trail (1.5km) on Shore Rd, South Harbour next to Hideaway Campground, Summer House and Oyster Market (South Pond on the Cape Breton Highlands National Park Map). We are not down Dingwall Rd.
